There can only be four.

I don't know about you but I have been waiting just to long for as they call the "Business End" of this years tournament. Now the time is here and I feel its about time I share my ten cents on the Rugby World Cup Quarter Finals.

FIRST UP IS
Wales vs South Africa

After a humiliating record breaking defeat its been tough for the Springboks but as expected they topped their pool. The Welsh on the other side have had their own struggles  on the injury front but they did well to get thus far considering.
They come up against a South African outfit that are expected to "at the least" reach the Semi-Final and the critics say that could be just the added pressure that gives the Welsh a chance.
Prediction
It would be foolish of me to suggest anything other than a Green and Gold victory especially because the Welsh don't exactly have their strongest squad available but don't expect it to be by many.

NEXT IS
Australia vs Scotland
The Australia team have peaked at just the right time and have been impressive so far, in fact since before the World Cup they have been on a upward curve. They face dangerous Scotland team that should they defeat the Australians it could possibly eclipse the Japanese triumph over the South Africans.
Don't get me wrong the Scottish deserve to be in the last eight but this is as far as I think they will go, the future though does look bright for them.

Prediction
Australia should win but the news that David Pocock and Isreal Falou will miss the match does throw a spanner in the works.

THEN MY MATCH OF THE WEEKEND

Ireland vs Argentina
After the elation of beating France excuse me let me begin again, after the elation of avoiding the All Blacks the Irish now find a much improved The Rugby Championship Argentinians' standing in their wake.

If truth be told both teams are in quite a fortunate position as the prize of victory is immense. Nothing motivates you more than being able to make history and that being said this could well be the most open fixture of the quarter finals.

Prediction
I can see Argentina pulling off a win and it could well be by 8 or more.

LAST BUT NOT LEAST

New Zealand vs France
The 2007 defeat rings loud and clear which ever way you look at it and just like with Henry's All Blacks back then they are expected to win, but we all know what happened there. Granted many things went in the French favour that day but with the French team, especially against the All Blacks you just never know which French team will come to the party and on the day they can be world beaters. The fact that the All Blacks haven't really been tested in this campaign does sound a feint alarm.

Prediction
Yes the All Blacks never wanted to face France and they haven't been at their best but they haven't been out of first gear and that could spell trouble for Les Bleus.
So JCBA calls for an all Southern Hemisphere Rugby World Cup Semi Final, ironically hosted in the Northern Hemisphere.

What happens if Manchester United win the Europa League & finish in the top four?

Due to Champions League qualification clubs are now looking more favourably at the Europa League competition.  So Manchester United will naturally be gunning for glory as they take on Celta Vigo in their semi final.   If however, they win the tournament and finish the English Premier League in the top four, England will have just the four teams in Europe’s elite competition. What I find more interesting is if Manchester United win the Europa League and finish outside the top four! Should this scenario occur, England will have FIVE entrants to the Champions League, rather than four – with United joining the top four Premier League clubs.   There are a host of different scenarios as to who will be in Europe's second tier next season. For starters, the Premier League's fifth-placed club - should United not win the Europa League AND finish outside the top four - will go into the pot.   Then there's the EFL Cup - or League Cup - winners... however that tournament w

WHAT THE MANAGERS SAY Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp : "Apart from the table, it's a very important game. I know about the history, I like the special stories. The whole world will watch this game, it's a big honour to be part of it. "At the end, it's up to us to perform to our best. You cannot and should not ignore the special circumstance of a game like this. You have to be ready. "They have big quality and we have to respect this, as we do. But this is Anfield. We have to show this. We have had a few nice atmospheres but I'm open for the best atmosphere. We need everybody in a Liverpool shirt in this game." Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho on concerns over disrespectful chanting at the game: "In football we have some football tragedies, if you can say that, which is a big match that you lost, the mistake that some player did, this kind of thing, and you can make fun of it in a positive way. "But the human tragedy i

The Premier League changes its logo.

The most lucrative football league in the world, The English Premier League (EPL), yesterday unveiled its new official logo, which will be used from the 2016-17 season onwards. The division's lion icon has been the face of England's top flight since its launch in 1992 but has undergone a makeover to give it a fresh, modern look. It means, EPL is ending its 12-year association with Barclays bank and will from now on be known simply as ‘the Premier League’. The new logo – has a crowned lion’s head gazing to the right, accompanied by either the words ‘Premier League’ or ‘PL’ -- will replace the current logo of a lion with its left paw on a football. All 20 clubs in the top flight have also agreed a new centralised sponsorship strategy, meaning the league will no longer have a named sponsor. “From next season we will move away from title sponsorship and the competition will be known as the Premier League, a decision which provided the opportunity to consider how we wanted
