English Premier League Champions vs English FA Cup Winners

Otherwise known as FA Community Shield, now in its 105th year, is the inaugural curtain raiser for the English Football season.
David Moyes and his conterpart Owen Coyle find themselves in unfamiliar territory. Moyes being the first Manchester United manager other than Sir Alex since 1985 to be on the touch line and Coyle being the first Latic boss to manage a Wigan Athletic team in a Community Shield.
Wigan Athletic also will be the first team from the Championship to take part in the competition and the first time since 1980 that a Community Shield will consist of a team from a lower league.
Mark Lawrenson once called the game a ‘glorified friendly’, with it being played at Wembley and the extended amount of substitutions carrying weight to this argument.
The Latics are understandably under dogs for this clash but the fact that they have nothing to lose should be noted by Manchester United, as the blue half of Manchester so rudely found out in last seasons FA Cup final defeat. They will also be full of confidence as they find themselves at the summit of The Championship log after a 4-0 defeat of Barnsley on the opening day.
Manchester United on the other hand find themselves in the familiar position of favourites and with a pre season consisting of two one goal loses, two draws and two 5 goal wins I do see this as a friendly they just cannot afford to lose.
Moyes needs to start cultivating that winning mentality for his reds and he has the ideal opportunity come Sunday to start. Especially since they have a trip to Wales on the opening day of their title defense and let's be honest, you do not want to go to Swansea after a defeat, to a Championship side at Wembley.
Moyes will be happy with his pre season look at his new squad and I wouldn't be surprised to see a few youngsters taking the park in the 90 minutes as it will be well deserved.
Prediction
Manchester United to win by two (or more), and for David Moyes to rake in his first trophy as the new boss #ToBeContinued

The Premier League changes its logo.

The most lucrative football league in the world, The English Premier League (EPL), yesterday unveiled its new official logo, which will be used from the 2016-17 season onwards. The division's lion icon has been the face of England's top flight since its launch in 1992 but has undergone a makeover to give it a fresh, modern look. It means, EPL is ending its 12-year association with Barclays bank and will from now on be known simply as ‘the Premier League’. The new logo – has a crowned lion’s head gazing to the right, accompanied by either the words ‘Premier League’ or ‘PL’ -- will replace the current logo of a lion with its left paw on a football.
