Fan has his say on Springbok coach.

Coach Meyer wishes he had a PVR on Saturday against the  All Blacks

.
Dear Heyneke,
.
So, back to earth with a horrible thud then. That was painful. First, let's pay tribute to the best team playing rugby on the planet today. The All Blacks were all pace, power and ruthlessness Saturday. I have to confess, once I realised we were simply being outclassed, I sat back and marvelled at how brilliant they truly are.
.
It eased the pain slightly, but I imagine not for you Heyneke. Once you threw everything at them in the first half, it was awesome to watch how they simply absorbed and when handed the smallest of opportunities, simply executed clinically.
.
What went wrong besides having to play the "chosen ones"? I'd like to offer an opinion. Your "pressing" defensive system is very risky. It can put your opponent under heavy pressure, but if even one man misses his mark, gaps will open up. Against a team such as NZ, you were always going to be up against it, when that happened, and they made you pay.
.
I believe you now blame the defensive errors on inexperience. Really? When on your bench you had a man who marshalled the best defense in the Super XV in the absence of Jaque Fourie? In Juan de Jongh, you also had your captain's regular playing partner. Ever heard the word "combinations" Heyneke? And then of course, there's the old turkey, "were still learning". Pull the other one Heyneke. When you were laying siege to the a 14 man All Black line and even some of their backs were sucked in, instead of going wide, you kept pounding away to where the numbers were. That's not inexperience, that is sheer stupidity!
.
Could it perhaps come from a coach's obsession with brawn? I'm just asking. They say we are ranked no.2 in the world right now. Well, I'm here to tell you, there is a hell of a lot of daylight between 1 and 2. You say now, a year is a long time in rugby and that next year, we'll compete against the All Blacks.
.
Well, given there's only the end of year tour left, I'm willing to admit you were not on the field but a product of your work was and we can only judge you based on that - for me I'm sorry you are not the man for the Job, still the same shit, Elton had to come on in a pressure situation and kicked us into the lead, the coloureds are only good enough once all else has failed - indicative that not much has changed. I'd rather have DIV's "no plan" than that plan! If defensive systems are failing, the coaches must accept responsibility and be blamed.

Your sincerely
The Russmeister

What happens if Manchester United win the Europa League & finish in the top four?

Due to Champions League qualification clubs are now looking more favourably at the Europa League competition.  So Manchester United will naturally be gunning for glory as they take on Celta Vigo in their semi final.   If however, they win the tournament and finish the English Premier League in the top four, England will have just the four teams in Europe’s elite competition. What I find more interesting is if Manchester United win the Europa League and finish outside the top four! Should this scenario occur, England will have FIVE entrants to the Champions League, rather than four – with United joining the top four Premier League clubs.   There are a host of different scenarios as to who will be in Europe's second tier next season. For starters, the Premier League's fifth-placed club - should United not win the Europa League AND finish outside the top four - will go into the pot.   Then there's the EFL Cup - or League Cup - winners... however that ...

The Premier League changes its logo.

The most lucrative football league in the world, The English Premier League (EPL), yesterday unveiled its new official logo, which will be used from the 2016-17 season onwards. The division's lion icon has been the face of England's top flight since its launch in 1992 but has undergone a makeover to give it a fresh, modern look. It means, EPL is ending its 12-year association with Barclays bank and will from now on be known simply as ‘the Premier League’. The new logo – has a crowned lion’s head gazing to the right, accompanied by either the words ‘Premier League’ or ‘PL’ -- will replace the current logo of a lion with its left paw on a football. All 20 clubs in the top flight have also agreed a new centralised sponsorship strategy, meaning the league will no longer have a named sponsor. “From next season we will move away from title sponsorship and the competition will be known as the Premier League, a decision which provided the opportunity to consider how we wanted ...
