Here it Is!!! THE RUGBY WORLD CUP

The eight quadrennial Rugby World Cup starts today in England from 18 September to 31 October. Twickenham Stadium in London will host the final. England was chosen to host the competition in July 2009, beating rival bids from Italy, Japan and South Africa. (Love this Google Doodle)

Of the 20 teams competing at the 2015 World Cup, 12 of them qualified by finishing in the top three places in their pools in the 2011 World Cup. The other eight teams qualified through regional competition. Of the 20 countries that competed in the previous World Cup in 2011, there was only one change – Uruguay replaced Russia.

Enough of the fine print it starts tonight in earnest with the host England taking on Fiji, im buzzing for it to start. Doesn't it feel like just yesterday it was 100 days away.

If I'm honest its not the most excited I've been for rugby's show piece event, but what I can say is that come match day I will be fully kitted out and so should you. The Premier League changes its logo.

The most lucrative football league in the world, The English Premier League (EPL), yesterday unveiled its new official logo, which will be used from the 2016-17 season onwards. The division's lion icon has been the face of England's top flight since its launch in 1992 but has undergone a makeover to give it a fresh, modern look. It means, EPL is ending its 12-year association with Barclays bank and will from now on be known simply as ‘the Premier League’. The new logo – has a crowned lion’s head gazing to the right, accompanied by either the words ‘Premier League’ or ‘PL’ -- will replace the current logo of a lion with its left paw on a football. Currie Cup Final "Op Nuweland"

Op Nuweland (i.e. In Newlands Stadium) for Capetonian Rugby lovers has a special connotation understood only with a beer, friends, family, braai and biltong on match days. This match day Cape Town can boast a Currie Cup Final, and a deserved one I might add, for the first time in 12 years. It will also be the 12th time since 1939 that this illustriuos stadium hosts the Currie Cup Final, with only Loftus Versfeld, Pretoria hosting more (17). It has also been dominated by these two teams for the last 4 years with Western Province(WP) taking part in three of the last four finals. The Sharks can boast being in their fourth Currie Cup Final in as many years, each winning the title just once in that time.
