JCBA's Fantasy Footy15

And then there was one.

This  post has been a while in the making but it has finally arrived.

JCBA Fantasy Footy evolved this season from a two man show to a group of 6 members, with the  additions of Nice Time United, Gershwin, Chad and last but not least Jibby all joining Biggie Fc in chasing JCBA. Definitely adding to the drama that is Fantasy Footy and put up a good fight.

JCBA got through yet another Fantasy Footy Season unscathed  winning by a comfortable 96 points, but it wasn't always that plain sailing.

If we can recall way back in August 2014 he had a shaky start because after the GW3 he was 37 points behind the leader and not looking like himself at all. He also had a nail biting Segment 1 Final Day when if not for a late Hazard consolation goal in a surprising Spurs 5-3 slaughtering of Chelsea he wouldn't have won the segment.

So this brings us to the ceremonial part of this season the last post and the winner is:

Game week 36 & 37 reviewed
Gersh had another GW win making it back to back successes GW35 & GW36. We almost thought he would make it a hattrick of GW wins only for JCBA to spoil the party in GW37 with a GW win of himself.

GW36 was just another reminder that JCBA is in it to win it as he inched his way to securing both segment 2 and the overall Fantasy Footy table. He lost out to a rejvenated Gersh but sneaked 3 points more than NTU. Chad, Biggiefc and to a lesser extent Jibby and their challenge has somewhat waned as the season progressed but I'm sure its a learning experience that should put them in with a shot in next season's Fantasty Footy.

GW37 just underlined the experience of the defending Fantasy Footy Champion. He won yet another GW and cheekly included Begovic to his squad knowing he will be substituted out after the GW. So until after the GW Gersh might have thought he bagged yet another GW.

It's all she wrote for JCBA's challengers for his throne now after that GW success so much like the top leagues in Europe the final day of the season will be about who is the best of the rest and an interesting thing has developed.

Gersh is hot on the heels of NTU, only 9 point behind in this segment (and Chad is just 6 behind him). In the overall standings Gersh is again only 11 points behind NTU not as insurmountable a leads a JCBA's 90 points but it would be a quite remarkable recovery from Gersh as not only was he way off the pace just five GW's ago and he started JCBA Fantasy Footy in GW2 and 58 points behind NTU.

Heck we in for a nail biting Survival Sunday whether or not NTU is caught, hats off to Gersh and yes mathematically we can't crown JCBA as Fantasy Footy Champion again just yet, come Sunday you can bet your bottom dollar we will then.

Gersh wins yet another GW but I feel it might just be too little too late even for second place on the overall log.

Not a GW win for JCBA but it must feel like one as he out scored rival NTU by 6 points. With only three GW's remaining and two transfers remaining the advantage lays firmly with him.

Stats show he leads segment 2 by 61 points and the overall log by 73 points. NTU will also be aware Chad trails him by only 3 points in this segment so he'll be looking over his shoulder as well as above him.

It is by no means signed sealed and delivered, I recall JCBA making up such a lead in 2 GW's at the start of this season so its not impossible.

Might be improbable but this is Fantasy Footy and anything can happen.

Game Week 34 reviewed

JCBA is sitting pretty on top of both this segment and the overall log after back to back GW wins.

We can run through exact stats in this weeks review, but JCBA will be pleased he is in this position especially because NTU used up all his transfers last week. The pace setter only has two transfers but even that could telling.

He can do one of two things the one being the Mourinho Way and close shop and hold on to what he has or the Sir Alex Way and put he nail in the coffin of the opposition

It be interesting to see what he does.

So JCBA won another GW and out scored NTU by 33 points.

With a double GW coming up NTU would be hoping sitting on his team this week reaps rewards in GW34. JCBA on the other hand will be hoping that 33 points is enough.

With both of them short in the remaining transfers these last 5 GW will be interesting to say the least.

Boy oh boy this is heating up big time. JCBA made a 1 point gain on Nice Time United (NTU) and Chad won the GW.

What could be pivotal this FA Cup Semi-Final weekend as team managers need to either replace all Arsenal, Aston Villa and Liverpool players or risk having a poor GW or wait for those players to have a double GW.

Good Luck is all I'm saying...

Nice Time United won yet another GW and pardon the pun but he really had himself a nice time moving to within 4 points of leader JCBA in this segment.

Not to mention he now finds himself just 16 points off the overall lead with just 7 GW left.

I must be excused for writing off Ghersh as he is most definitely still a contender.

NTU once again showed if you take a chance and go big it can and has returned a huge benefit.

I keep saying it JCBA Fantasy Footy is going to the wire and if I'm you I just wouldn't want to miss it.

Game Week 28; 29; & 30 reviewed

GW28 saw JCBA smash the highest GW score only to muster the lowest GW of the group in GW29.

Just shows he is human yet the overall leader will be hoping the last 8 GW's shine favourably on him. GW30 was all Chad, you could say, and NTU and JCBA both score 3rd placed 69, the rest of the group though all had a good GW with 52 points the lowest.

Just as tight as the Premier Leaugue top 6 are I do see JCBA Fantasy Footy shaping up to be a nail biter right down to the last GW ...even if it's realistically just a two horse race.

Game Week 27 reviewed

What a GW  it turned out to be. JCBA burned transfers and reaped no rewards where Gersh & NTU saved there transfers and reaped rewards beyond their wildest dreams.

Gershwin's Rooney inspired captain won him the GW and NTU never even selected a Captain and still out scored leader JCBA. I presume JCBA will be forced into more transfers as GW28 sees a double GW for Tottenham and QPR and with his below average GW27 he would be foolish to risk doing nothing.

Do remember GW28 starts TUESDAY 3rd of March 2015 that's just over 1 day away, make your changes A.S.A.P. #Just PuttingItOutThere

Game Week 26 reviewed

I shouldn't be surprised because heck just last week I spoke about Chad, pulling a rabbit out of a hat, and he went on to do just so.

Scored a GW winning 78 points one less than the highest GW this season in JCBA's Fantasy Footy. The highest GW was scored by want-away Jibby, who must have been tipped off about his probable removable from the group; as he has made an appearance after submitting a team last week.

JCBA extented his lead at the summit after a below par GW for NTU and the former now leads not just overall but the segment as well.

This GW27 offers quite a conundrum for the group with Chelsea and Tottenham at Wembley, we find QPR and Leicester all having a blank GW. Most squads are littered with representatives from that lot. So it does beg the question whether to Shell or Ship?

Do you ship players off and burn transfers or shell them in the hope that when their double GW inevitably comes around they make up for a most probably poor scoring GW27.

In the end you make your bed, so you better be ready to sleep in it, which ever route you choose.

Game Week 25 reviewed

JCBA has retaken the segment lead not before Biggiefc wins another GW. This has really been his segment and Gersh must be wishing he was back in segment 1.

GW26 is finally here after the LONG break and everyone just can't wait to get going.

Touch wood Jibby makes an appearance this week or I have it on good authority he might just be scrapped should he not. NTU has something up his sleave as always and just when you think Chad has lost interest or is out for the count he comes back swinging.

Watch this space people.
JCBA 284;
NTU 280;

Gershwin 230;
Chad 225;

We have ourselves a new Segment 2 leader. Nice Time United finds himself 2 points ahead of JCBA and on a winning run that must have his main rival scratching his head.

GW25 is swiftly upon us tonight and it doesn't get any easier to predict. That's not just the beauty of the game but the beauty that is Fantasy Footie.

Don't count Gersh just yet because in fantasy soccer anything happen and usually does. That's actually what famous commentor Murray Walker said about Formula One, but it fits in well here.

Well well well Chad just keeps punching above his weight, when we least expect it. Bagging another GW win just out of the blue.

Him winning will suit leaders JCBA & NTU because Gersh has been a thorn in their side for many a GW. They are both as you where three weeks ago at the beginning of this segmant. Nothing to seperate them.

I suspect thats how that's how it wlll be right up until May, with Gersh not far off as the dark horse.

Big Boy Biggiefc (Kyle Loubser) celebrated his 21st birthday with a GW win just to underline he is still able to flex his muscles.

Interesting GW up ahead as always, with the FA Cup break affecting most of the group members in many ways. None so more than the ban for Chelsea's Costa.

What can I say JCBA is still leading the way with NTU and Gersh still his main contenders. Can't wait to see what this GW brings.

Game Week 20 reviewed
JCBA wins Segment 1 by the hair on his chinny-chin-chin and in doing so also bags the first of the 8 prizes of JCBA's Fantasy Footy15 this season.(All prizes to be presented in May 2015)

He must have been sitting on the edge of his seat watching that last fixture of the GW20 between Chelsea & Spurs. Following the live updates of the Fantasy Footy group on ESPN he would've noticed it had him in 3rd position on the log then 2nd and eventually 1st; all in the second half of the BPL fixture.

Let's not forget Nice Time United's (NTU) come back in GW19 out scoring both JCBA and Gersh and then going on to win GW20. Does send a warning of intent to the rest of the players. Both he and Gersh keeping JCBA honest and constantly looking over his shoulders.

Players like Biggiefc; Chad and Jibby have been in the shadows of the top three in segment 1; so they will be pleased that for this next segment everyone starts afresh and anyone of them can stake a claim for winning the segment.

Talking about that; Segmant 2 starts with what some fantasy footy platforms call a WILD CARD so your teams scrapped, your transfers reset to 30 and you "start over" again, only not.

It's a downer that you lose the extra transfer fee over the 100 million you built up through the season but everyone's in the same boat. Best not forget you have just over FOUR DAYS to reconstruct your team because failing to do so could just about end the race to the end of the fantasy footy season for you.

Game Week 19 reviewed
The boys really flexing their muscles in the group and this GW it was Jibby doing the flexing and scoring 50 points to win the GW.

JCBA had a nightmare, some would say disastrous GW and with 1 GW left of Segment 1 he only leads Gersh by 11 points. His problems run deeper than that in that besides having players that do not make their respective teams match day squads he is also blighted by injuries that may well cost him this segment.

If JCBA can hold on with his, let's say nine players for GW20 (for his sake I hope TourƩ plays) it would be well deserved. The same could be said about Gersh, I mean he joined JCBA's Fantasy Footy15 a week later. Then he was:
35 points behind JCBA;
49 behind Chad;
56 behind Biggiefc
and a whopping 58 points behind NTU. ‎
Now after nineteen GW'S he is just 11 behind JCBA and leads the rest, that's what I call hashtag consistent. ‎

Should Gersh not out score JCBA by the said points difference you can bet your bottom dollar he'll put his hand up for the rest of the season and vice versus should JCBA be overhauled by Gersh the veteran Fantasy Footy player will be there and thereabouts come GW38.

Like they say on TV: "Don't touch that dial, we'll be right back after the break". In our case see you Thursday, New Years Day, in 2015, when we say bye to 2014 and let the winner of Segment 1 reveal himself.

Chad out of nowhere won this GW with a 74 point week. JCBA though disappointed in missing out on GW win, will be pleased he now has a 25 point lead over Gersh not 22 anymore.

Just two GW's remaining and it does look like it's going down to the wire. JCBA out scored Gersh and only had 9 players take the field in his squad that's something Gersh wouldn't be happy about. Some would call it luck and luck does run out in the end he knows all too well.

I'd be interested to see who people captain their squads with in GW 19 because there is some interesting fixtures.

Make no mistake Gersh has to win this GW else surely it'll be all she wrote for segment 1, not true?

JCBA won yet another GW and he must have his eye on finishing this segment as soon as possible.

With 3 GWs in the next 6 days the 22 point lead he now has over second placed Gersh looks quite thin, and he knows it. If you ask me it can't come soon enough for the leader.

Now for him it's about damage limitations and wining a GW like he did last week was just a bonus. For second placed Gersh it's about continuing his good run of form.

All JCBA has to do is not lose 22 points to the chasing pack and the segment is sealed.  But that is easier said than done.

Game Week 16 reviewed
The dark horse Gersh banother GW and both JCBA and Nice Time United (NTU) are now both looking ominously over there shoulders.

Not only is Gersh the form Fantasy Footy player he also has a few things going for him in his squad. Firstly he has a transfer left as well as the option to use 3 strikers for the remaining 4 GW's of Segment 1 (something JCBA & NTU cannot do). He is only 21 points off the summit and 10 points off second. If you consider in the last 4 GW's Gersh scored 227 points that's 32 more than JCBA and 37 more than NTU in the same period, it does spell trouble for the leaders.

My humblest apologies to the rest of the JCBA's Fantasy group for the sporadic mentions but besides Chad & Biggiefc swapping positions weekly they do not have a realistic chance of winning this segment.

What I can tell them though is that in four GW's a new segment begins, just putting it out there.

I still feel this segment is beyond him though which will be contested by JCBA & Nice Time United (NTU) with Gersh standing a "more than" outiside chance of over turning the apple cart.

It's as you were at the summit with JCBA leading the way, but for a minute there it looked like Nice Time United (NTU) had it in the bag. Then both Gersh and Chad stole the GW win by scoring 74 points each.

NTU though decrease JCBA's lead from 13 to just 3 points and used up all his substitutions in the process. A fact that could (as I keep saying) cost him in the end, best thing about that risk if it does pay off he will look like a genius.

The rest of the group have the following number of substitutes left:
JCBA - 6
Gersh - 7
Chad - 7
Biggiefc - 5
Jibby - 26

Boy oh boy that's tight and with 6 GW's left to the end of segment 1 it will get a hell of a lot tighter.

Expect shrewd moves by everyone in the group with some management of their squads and substitutions.

JCBA bags another GW and sneaks past 700 points, he would be happy about that' who would'nt?

December is packed with 7 GWs and more importantly we come to the end of the 1st segment in JCBA's Fantasy Footy15 and the first prize of this fantasy footy is up for grabs. Who wouldn't love to take a 15 point lead into that?

Seven GWs though does mean there is enough time to make up such a paltry lead, so JCBA does need to keep his wits about him and have a bit of luck.

The quick turn around does mean GW 14 is upon us already and as luck would have it injuries to key players does pose the question of do you substitute him or bench him tomorrow night?

It's as you where at the summit this GW but we welcome another member into the 600 points club namely Gersh, is he a contender to the top two or best of the rest?

Last but not least Chad sneaked out a GW win and is still hanging in there, even if it is by a thread. Talking about threads the challenge, at least for this segment, has snapped for Biggiefc as not even a miracle couple of GW wins could salvage the disaster he finds himself in.

Game Week 11 reviewed

During the hated International Break I had loads of free time and decided to dig into the history of JCBA's Fantasy Footy and found last season's GW 11 scores.

JCBA (then called Jcbasportsunited) was 34 points better off than this season and Biggiefc already surpassed the 600 points mark. Interesting to see the two's contrasting fortunes.
Back to this season and another GW win for Nice Time United thanks in part to a stunning Gylfi Sigurdsson free kick, though JCBA is still on top of the log he must appreciate that if you lose a GW to a goal that one was well worth the price of the ticket.

Gersh strengthened his position in third place to a lead which is now 40 points more than fourth placed Biggiefc. Bchadx3 is breathing down Biggiefc's neck and Jibby is admirably bringing up the rear.

Word of caution for everyone in the group though; Jibby is a dark horse with his 26 substitutions available for this segment 1 and could make huge inroads in the group still.

Just putting it out there!

Game Week 10 reviewed
Ghersh won his second GW and it looks like he is going from strength to strength.

He out scored JCBA by 15 points and can feel proud of his efforts thus far. JCBA will be pleased that his lead at the summit is now 7 points.

It does look like JCBA's Fantasy Footy15 group is developing into a three horse race. Biggiefc, Chad and Jibby might have something to say about about it even if it is a long shot.

A big November and December lies ahead and transfers in the bag (Jibby is in the box seat with a whopping 26 transfers available) as well as possible players in same squad facing each other make for interesting reading ahead.

Don't you dare miss out on that.

Game Week 9 reviewed
JCBA has surpassed Nice Time United (NTU) at the summit but staying there as NTU can detest is harder than it looks.

Another GW win for the leader and little as the lead might be(only 3points), JCBA will have enjoyed getting there. He will enjoy staying there much more though.

Ghersh is making third place his own surely he is now focusing on catching the leaders and his bold team choices makes him more likely to do just that, than the rest of the fantasy group members (i.e. on recent form). The optimist in me believes that the tide will turn for Biggiefc and his big GW is just around the corner. The Costa & Falcao faithful could be in for a favourable GW10.

Transfers or the lack thereof could become a factor next month not to mention a in a bumper December. That said Jibby sits in pole position with a whopping 26 transfers still available to him and NTU brings up the rear there.

Let the race to the end of this 1st Segment begin!!!!

Game Week 8 reviewed
Ghersh has rocketed to third in the group and scored his first GW win in the process. Which is even more amazing with the fact that he started one GW late.

The summit has once again been the home of NTU who outscored JCBA by 3 points to extend his lead to 4. Only Chad scored less points in GW than Biggiefc and the poor form of the veteran fantasy footy player is of grave concern to the group as a whole, it has been describes as bad as a wife that has let herself go,"not a good sight".

Jibby also needs mention as he once again showed this GW he is not here just to make up the numbers in JCBA'S Fantasy Footy15.

Game Week 7 reviewed

After a arduously long international break we finally have fantasy footy back again as the ELP is back in ernest this week.

Jibby was the suprise package two weeks ago mustering up not just a GW win but also the highest GW score(75) for this season. He may be well off the summit for obvious reasons but he sure is flexing his muscles to the rest of the group.

Inspired choice by Ghersh to captain Angel gave him a good GW score as well(66). It does look like the late entrants are beginning to blossom. Chad remains there and there about stubbornly, consistently racking up points and Biggiefc is quite the opposite.

JCBA is now just one point off Nice Time United who must feel he is hanging on by a thread to the top of the group.

Interesting GW8 coming up. Will we have a new leader of the pack or will normality return to JCBA's Fantasy Footy which was beginning to look like the NTU Show.

I for one just glad the ELP is back!!

Game Week 6 reviewed

JCBA must be grinning like a cheshire cat as he is now only 3 points off Nice Time United at the summit. His third GW win in a row actually equals his highest consecutive GW wins that he achieved in the entire 13/14 fantasy footy season.

Which means that last season neither him or Biggiefc won more than 3 GW's in a row, so JCBA will be weary of this coming GW especially because he would know the saying "All good things come to an end".

Rooney's sending off never helped the group this week but I do see his suspension as a positive not just for fantasy footy captains but also for a Mata-less Manchester United. (I'd keep a keen eye on the Everton game). The forced change could see an increase in points across the board.

I'm not gunner tell you I told ya so but captain choice COSTA'd the group last week and I suspect that to be the case again this weekend.

Jade Christopher Bentley Adams signing off (@jcba)

Game Week 5 reviewed

Nice Time United must be enjoying the view from the top but below him it's heating up.

JCBA has been setting the pace of late and the rest would hope it's not becoming a habit by the former fantasy footy champion. He has now won two GWs in a row and long jumped passed Biggiefc and BChadx3 into a more comfortable or even expected second place on the log.

If last week Biggiefc was in a downward spiral, I won't muster to guess what he is thinking this week. He finds himself 4th with only new comers Ghersh and Jibby (late entries) behind him. I do guess it can only better for the veteran fantasy footy player.

It's the Merseyside Derby and North London Derby this week so some teams would need to reassess their squads as GWs go playing two players in your squad that face each other could cost you more than assist you.

I expect team captains to change this week across the board or should I say that I would be surprised to see the same captains in the respective teams this coming GW.....but heck stranger things have happened.

Game Week 4 reviewed

Has the tide turned and is everyone else eating dust? JCBA sure made a statement this GW racking up the highest GW points so far this season (71).

Biggiefc might be thinking about 'if's' and 'but's' because after this GW he now finds himself 3rd from last weeks 1st spot.

The risk this GW was whether to field "injured" again Costa or Manchester United's Falcao and as points scored would suggest the addition of LVG's latest signing was just a tad over zealous, no luck involved there.

A late entry to JCBA's Fantasy Footy15 is Jibran Mathews (a.k.a Jibby), though he might find himself well off the pace he must be glad to finally get his fantasy season off the mark and should be setting himself some achievable goals at least until this first segment ends in the new year.

NTU is becoming a regular at the summit of the group and he doesn't look like he will be budging anytime soon. BChadx3 finds himself just 5 points behind the leader and would feel that top spot is not far off. On the other hand Biggiefc is moving in the wrong direction and with JCBA now just 13 points adrift he'll have a keen eye over his right shoulder and rightly so.

One day you're the cock of the walk, the next a feather duster. Apply to someone you know?

Game Week 3 reviewed

After a LONG International Break Fantasy Footy is back and it is time to reflect on the last GWs scores.

For the 3rd successive week JCBA has scored the least points in the group, that must be some kind of "Moyes Record", unheard of in the realms of Fantasy Footy (at least as far as I can fathom). Biggiefc waltzed to the summit with 43point week in what can be described as a low scoring GW for all chargers. NTU relinquished his top spot but is a joint second and wouldn't be too distressed about one low GW. Bchadx3 is is riding a positive wave that he would hope to keep going but silly substitutions COSTA him the top spot again but I do feel this season he will eventually sit on the top of the log, in my opinion.

GW4 will be interesting new signings new dynamics in most squads and the regular starters might just become squad rotation players and cost fantasy league players some points, or boost there GW scoring.  You just never know do you?

Game Week 2 reviewed
Much like Manchester United, JCBA doesn't know what hit him. After GW1 Nice Time United(NTU) led the defending champion by 22 points after GW2 JCBA is a further 9 points behind and not looking like getting any closer anytime soon.

Though GW2 was owned by Bchadx3 who outscored Biggiefc & NTU (by 6 points) NTU still finds himself sitting pretty at the top of the Group Standings, thanks to a late substitution and a bench working wonders for him.  Biggiefc on the other hand is averaging 56 points a GW and going neck and neck with the leader.

Flash back to JCBA Fantasy Footy 14 after GW2 JCBA had amassed 151 points and Biggiefc 135 points, boy does that look a long way off now, especially for the former.

Is it testament to the unpredictability(& competitiveness) of the English Premier League or does it show the difference one player can "bite" out of  a game weeks scoring? (See what I did there?)

The dark horse Bchadx3 is pulling punches with the big boys and I expect GW3 with its tricky fixtures to really affect the standings. JCBA must feel he is punching below his considerable weight or the young guns showing him he is not quite as young as he used to be. Even the new boy 07Gershwin (54 points) is now hot on his trail, WELCOME TO JCBA FANTASY FOOTY15 Gersh.

All I'm saying is it's going to be a long Fantasy Footy League season that's for sure!!!!!

The lottery which is the first Game Week (GW) is behind us and one of the new boys to JCBA's Fantasy Footy this season is setting the pace with last year's champion bringing up the rear. Best believe Biggiefc (55 point GW) is all smiles about that.‎

Most would say the experienced JCBA got GW1 wrong, he would argue the sending off cost him, yet Aguero risk saved him.

Nice Time United (With a 58 point GW) & JCBA (36 point GW) showed that 4 strikers ‎don't guarantee goals but NTU be pleased with the opening weekend nonetheless. Imagine the 4 striker's pays off in a GW, just thinking out loud.

When GW1 locked everyone was expecting Bchadx3 (49 point GW), to as I said before, bring up the rear. I mean he made a few cardinal mistakes and one stands out like a sore thumb starting with only two striker's. Take a look at what the third striker scored on his bench. Even so JCBA still looking up at him.

It's good to remember there lays another 37 game week's ahead and planning shouldn't be for one game week at a time.

I'll leave you with this: There is no prize for being top after GW1 but looking down is much better than looking up!

Welcome back to another week of predicting the unpredictable. Honours even at the summit with both JCBA & NTU out scoring Gersh to win the GW.

Notable omissions in the group this week was BiggieFC, Chad, Jibby & more surprisingly Cesc FĆ bregas. The former yet to submit a squad for this segment.

Let's hope the guys submit as Gersh showed starting a segment a week later is not necessarily a handicap . Interesting squads makes interesting viewing in JCBA Fantasy Footy but your guess is as good as mine as to what the English Premier League has in store for all fantasy managers.

35 points behind JCBA;
49 behind Chad;

Biggie Biggie Biggie can't you see
Sometimes your words just hypnotize me
And I just love your flashy ways
Guess that's why they broke,
and you're so paid

That must be exactly how Biggiefc feels after a quite superb GW, some would say out of the dust, but a GW win none-the-less. Only his second GW win this Fantasy Footy season, the last came way back in GW3; hashtag RELIEF.

I still feel this segment is beyond him though which will be contested by JCBA & Nice Time United (NTU) with Gersh standing a "more than" outiside chance of over turning the apple cart.

As always the excitement of JCBA's Fantasy Football15 is palpable!

December approaches and that's when the fun happens.

The Premier League changes its logo.

The most lucrative football league in the world, The English Premier League (EPL), yesterday unveiled its new official logo, which will be used from the 2016-17 season onwards. The division's lion icon has been the face of England's top flight since its launch in 1992 but has undergone a makeover to give it a fresh, modern look. It means, EPL is ending its 12-year association with Barclays bank and will from now on be known simply as ‘the Premier League’. The new logo – has a crowned lion’s head gazing to the right, accompanied by either the words ‘Premier League’ or ‘PL’ -- will replace the current logo of a lion with its left paw on a football. All 20 clubs in the top flight have also agreed a new centralised sponsorship strategy, meaning the league will no longer have a named sponsor. “From next season we will move away from title sponsorship and the competition will be known as the Premier League, a decision which provided the opportunity to consider how we wanted

Ronaldo keeps on winning - Fifa Best Player Award

Cristiano Ronaldo was named the world's best player at the inaugural Best Fifa Football Awards in Zurich. Real Madrid and Portugal forward Ronaldo, 31, beat Barcelona's Lionel Messi and Atletico Madrid's Antoine Griezmann to the prize. Ronaldo also won the Ballon d'Or in December, with both honours recognition for success in the Champions League with Real and Euro 2016 with Portugal. 2016 was quite a year for Ronaldo. As well as scoring the decisive penalty in the shootout to win the Champions League, rescuing Real with a hat-trick in the final of the Club World Cup, captaining Portugal to Euro 2016 glory and being recognised with a fourth Ballon d'Or, he now has something Messi does not - the honour of being named best Fifa men's player. The former Manchester United forward had been the favourite for the award, following a year in which he continued to deliver. The stats don’t lie: 44 games, 42 goals, 14 assists.
