Herrera is our #10!

Louis van Gaal felt Ander Herrera improved after switching to No.10 in Manchester United's "relatively easy" 4-0 win at Club Brugge. Hearing that was music to my ears coming from the United boss.

After a quite disastrous first half I thought, as many of did that he wouldn't take the field in the second half. He looked over eager and rushed his passes, got himself booked and actually gave it away more than anything else.

The difference though was in the second half he played as a No.10. And the boy put up his hand for more regular first team minutes. He was superb not just in setting up Rooney's hat-trick goal and he scored with sublime composure showed once again that he deserves to start more.

I remember his first outing in a Manchester United jumper a Man of the Match performance in the USA in pre-season last season. Back then I knew little to nothing about him and since then he has made a positive influence every time he plays and even scores a few.

He forced Rooney further up the field and the rest is history - 90minutes with 3 goals, 6 shots, 4 on target and 52 passes at 87% accuracy. Good numbers any day.

So just like I could not wait on the Champions League Draw on Thursday I can't wait to see LVG's team sheet come Sunday vs Swansea.

What happens if Manchester United win the Europa League & finish in the top four?

Due to Champions League qualification clubs are now looking more favourably at the Europa League competition.  So Manchester United will naturally be gunning for glory as they take on Celta Vigo in their semi final.   If however, they win the tournament and finish the English Premier League in the top four, England will have just the four teams in Europe’s elite competition. What I find more interesting is if Manchester United win the Europa League and finish outside the top four! Should this scenario occur, England will have FIVE entrants to the Champions League, rather than four – with United joining the top four Premier League clubs.   There are a host of different scenarios as to who will be in Europe's second tier next season. For starters, the Premier League's fifth-placed club - should United not win the Europa League AND finish outside the top four - will go into the pot.   Then there's the EFL Cup - or League Cup - winners... however that ...

The Premier League changes its logo.

The most lucrative football league in the world, The English Premier League (EPL), yesterday unveiled its new official logo, which will be used from the 2016-17 season onwards. The division's lion icon has been the face of England's top flight since its launch in 1992 but has undergone a makeover to give it a fresh, modern look. It means, EPL is ending its 12-year association with Barclays bank and will from now on be known simply as ‘the Premier League’. The new logo – has a crowned lion’s head gazing to the right, accompanied by either the words ‘Premier League’ or ‘PL’ -- will replace the current logo of a lion with its left paw on a football. All 20 clubs in the top flight have also agreed a new centralised sponsorship strategy, meaning the league will no longer have a named sponsor. “From next season we will move away from title sponsorship and the competition will be known as the Premier League, a decision which provided the opportunity to consider how we wanted ...

Arsene Wenger v Jose Mourinho: The history of their rivalry in quotes

A must read by Adams Bate of Skysports news, The war of words between Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger goes on and on. While the Manchester United boss has generally had the upper hand on the pitch over the years, both managers have had stern words for each other in the press room. Here we recall their rivalry in quotes, dating back to Mourinho's first season in English football... "I don't see especially that Chelsea play more English players than we do. Who have they produced, homegrown? Just one, John Terry." - Wenger in 2005 when quizzed on Arsenal's all-foreign line-up. At the beginning of the following season in August 2005, Wenger also expressed concerns over Chelsea's tactics: "I know we live in a world where we have only winners and losers, but once a sport encourages teams who refuse to take the initiative, the sport is in danger." Mourinho was unimpressed. "Wenger has a real problem with us and I think he is what you ca...
